He fills the Universe

Here is another example of the expansive, multifaceted character of God. He is not two dimensional like a picture, or three dimensional like a sculpture, but is a multi dimensional being who lives outside of time, fills the whole universe and is aware of every thought we have! We cannot  put Him  in a box, especially one of our own making. We have to embrace all of His character, not just some aspects we like.

In Psalm 40:6 it says, “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire— but my ears you have opened…." This could also be translated as, “…my ears you have pierced….” Or as “…a body you have prepared for me….” All three of these meanings are factual.

Jesus opened his ears continually to the Father’s instruction.

A voluntary slave had his ears pierced to indicate his surrender.

The Father prepared a body for the eternal Son to inhabit while on the earth.

All three are true at the same time. In our simple thinking we tend to focus on one, and then argue that it’s the only understanding. God must shake His head at our small minded, stubborn, one dimensional viewpoints. We need to thing big, as wide as Scripture!

Picture: Jesus holds all  of the universe in His hands.
