The road of life dips and turns, taking us through dark places as well as out into the light. Our part is to continue on when things look bad and not to hang back or turn in fear. God has laid out the course for us, and Jesus is traveling with us (Hebrews 12:3 “run the race set out for you, looking to Jesus the author and finisher of your faith.”
When the path dips into the swamp, it is a great opportunity to live by faith, to honor God, to join with Him in a deeper way. It can be as simple a thing as losing your phone (as I did recently). In the scheme of things that’s a pretty small loss. But along with the phone, I lost all the info on it, including all my pictures. So I offered the sacrifice of thanksgiving and let go of those things. God says that by doing this we open the way for Him to show us the salvation of the Lord. And his help was not long in coming.
I was surprised to find that when i got a used phone and started to set it up, that one step was downloading all my information from the Cloud! I had no idea that was possible, but was very thankful for it. Just a small thing, but it again showed how God helps us in our weakness.
Now I have another chance to offer thanks, as I just found out that my new sim card won’t come until the middle of next week! So I can’t make any phone calls. But at least with my wifi I can do texting, and the sim card will come in God’s time.
What a privilege to join God in what He’s doing so he can fill us with all Joy and Peace in the midst of difficulty and disappointment (Romans 15:13). It’s simple: offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving, knowing the road will leave the dark area and come again into the light.
