REAL Leadership

This past weekend I went to an “Iron Sharpens Iron” men’s conference. One of the speakers had a very helpful presentation called being REAL in leadership, an anachronym.

R is for “reject passivity.” Adam was passive, not defending his wife, then following her example. David was only a boy, but he was active in the face of adversity (Goliath).

E is for “engage with God.” Learn to delight in God (Psalm 1). Spend time in the Word every day. Pray about all things and do so with your wife.

A is for “accept responsibility.” No excuses. Lead yourself well, according to 2 Peter 1:5-7. Make family your priority.

L is for “lead courageously.” Initiate good things; people will follow. Do it even when it is hard and threatening.

Great advice for all of us, man or woman, boy or girl.
